PBL Showcase of a lifetime!

Hello and welcome back to my blog. In the last week of term 2 we are presenting our PBL final project. Our question this term is How can we speak up against discrimination? I am working with Dylan J and Max H. We will be going live for a day on Wednesday the 3rd of July. My group is presenting at 2:45. We got to choose to present our work in either a TED talk, Poetry Slam, Podcast or Drama. My group choose to do a Poetry Slam on discrimination but mainly on Sexism. Sexism is making fun of people for being a different gender than the person bullying them. I had to create an invitation to send to my parents. Here is the invitation.
We were told today that our PBL will be presented to nearly all of New Zealand.
How can you help stop discrimination forever? See ya

My speech about ableism!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Our PBL topic is 'How can we speak up against discrimination?' First we had to right a speech before making the actual PBL project. I wrote my speech on ableism. I have put the introduction on but there is also a link below to the full thing.

Have you ever not been able to go onto the playground because you are in a wheelchair? Or never been
able to properly communicate because you can’t speak? Well people like this get imitated every day.
Some at school and some at work and others all over the world.

My name is Connor and I will be talking to you about ableism.

Do you know what ableism is? I didn’t until we started on our new PBL topic: How can we speak up
against Discrimination?
We learnt that most people with disabilities get treated either better than others, which they don’t like, or
worse which is, well, worse. I will be touching on what ableism is, what happens when you show ableism,
how people with disabilities feel when being discriminated against and how we can stop this.

If you are wondering what the yellow is for then I will tell you. It is because when I look up at the audience when I look back I know where to look. Have you ever presented a speech in front of a group? Tell me about it in the comments. Goodbye.

My goals for term two!

Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog. For term two we had to write a post on what our goals for term two are.

My goals were: To get my work done to a high standard and work hard in my work shops. I achieved my first goal by staying away from people that will distract me even if that mean't staying away from my friends. I achieved my second goal by focusing hard in my work shop and understanding the question which can sometimes be hard for me. What were your goals for term two at your school and did you achieve them? Tell me in the comments. See ya.

The cross country race

Hi again and welcome back to my blog. I know it was a long time ago but in the first week of term 2 we did cross country. It was held at Walter Park. Here is a picture of what Walter Park looks like. Image result for walter parkI am not a huge fan about cross country but I still enjoyed myself. And I was lucky. Half way through each lap my mum who is a teacher was waiting there showing people where to go. She gave me her drink bottle to drink from and some food. I ran most of the way jogged some of the way and walked a little bit of the way. My friends were in front the whole time. I of my friends named Kade came seventh I think and my friend William came eighth. If there were pictures I would show them but there aren't. My friend Christopher was lucky but not lucky. He was sick that day but had to go to school so he only had to do one lap. And then he watched as me and the year seven boys ran our hardest and fastest. When was your last cross country and how did you go? I know I did not come first. See ya.

Reading Workshop Week 6

Hello again and welcome back to my blog. This week for reading we had to do something called synthesis eggs. Its a diagram with three eggs and what we had to do is right what we thought the book was about, what we read in the text and our new understandings. We did this on a google drawing. But first we had to read the book. This is a link to the book if you want to have a read of it. MeMe & Me. And here is a picture of the synthesis eggs.
The reason it is really big is cause the letters are too small for any one to read. If you read the book, What was your first thoughts and then what did you think after you read the book? Other wise Good bye.

My art against discrimination!

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog. Over this term we have been working on an artwork to show how to stand up against discrimination. I couldn't get it on here for some reason but here are some of the posters that we got the idea from.

If you read them all then you will probably be thinking this is terrible. If you are then good cause it is terrible. My poster that I designed has this person on it which is me and I used some websites to help me edit it and it now looks like this.
What sort of art have you been doing at your school? If you have been doing art. Other wise Bye.
